The US international travel policy went into effect November 8, 2021. The new guidelines make vaccination the key for all foreign visitors coming to the United States.
The policy now welcomes fully vaccinated noncitizen, nonimmigrant travelers, coming by air, land, or ferry. The new plan will allow travelers who were subject to bans from Iran, China, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, India, Brazil, and Europe’s Schengen area, to enter the US if they are fully vaccinated and otherwise qualify. All authorized and FDA-approved vaccines, along with those with an emergency use listing from the WHO, are accepted for US entry.
The AstraZeneca vaccine, used in Canada and Europe, will also be accepted. The Russian-developed Sputnik V vaccine has not been approved by the FDA or the WHO and will not be accepted. The CDC says you are fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine. Individuals are also considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last dose of any combination of two doses of an FDA approved or WHO emergency use listed two-dose series, according to the CDC.
